Central Pattaya

The busiest part of town: hotels, malls, bars and the beach. Beach Road is one-way southbound and Second Road is one-way northbound, so you ride in a loop. The small streets (sois) between them are the short cuts.

Traffic is slow in the evening. Baht buses stop without warning: keep your distance.

Parking: use the marked motorbike bays. Never park at a red-and-white kerb. Walking Street is closed to vehicles in the evening.

Pratumnak

The hill between Pattaya and Jomtien. Quiet and green, mostly condos and small hotels, with small beaches below.

The roads are calm but steep, with tight bends. Some are dark at night.

Parking is easy: most buildings have their own space. Central Pattaya and Jomtien are both a few minutes away.

Jomtien

A long beach south of the hill, about 6 km from Central Pattaya. More relaxed than the centre, popular for long stays and families.

You get there by Thappraya Road over the hill, or by Thepprasit Road from Sukhumvit. Both are busy at rush hour. Parts of Jomtien Beach Road are one-way: follow the signs.

Parking: marked bays along the beach road, and at most hotels and condos.

Naklua

North of the centre. An older, more local part of town, with seafood markets, Wong Amat beach and the Sanctuary of Truth.

Naklua Road is narrow and two-way, with many side streets. The Dolphin roundabout, where it meets Beach Road and Second Road, is busy: enter slowly.

Parking: at your hotel or condo. Street space is tight near the market.
